What inspired you to write ‘The Bathroom’ book?
It started with a single thought. My thought. It began early one morning with seven splashes of water over my face, then a reach for my toothbrush. The circular motion of toothbrush bristles required water. As I watched the water swirl down the drain, I wondered how much water was wasted while performing my morning routine. I consciously conserve water. Does everyone follow this practice? As I glanced around the bathroom each mental snapshot became an inspiration for this first book in the series: The Bathroom. I reminisced about various stages of pulling this bathroom altogether. I embraced my intentions and created selections that led to the final design. You see, there is so much more than what meets the eye. The overall design process involved being conscious of what I breathe, touch, and hear, how I feel, and why I freely enter the bathroom to Release, Renew, Revitalize (3Rs).
It did not stop there, for once the final touches were in place, the need to maintain balance and harmony became essential. Daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual rhythmic rituals were part of the plan. These were the necessary ingredients to surround myself in an environment that continually supports a fulfilling journey to a Beautiful Eco-Conscious, Healthy-Living Lifestyle.
As I stood leaning against the vanity, creative ideas began to flow freely. I imagined writing a book to guide others beyond my circle of immediate influence. The desire tugged at my heart and strengthened with time. My thoughts began to appear as my pencil glided across the paper, forming one word at a time. Excitement stirred!
I have begun an interactive book series to help you achieve a unifying, Eco-Conscious
Lifestyle—though simply One Room at a Time. We begin with The Bathroom, for this is where we begin and end each day, every day.
How long did it take you to write
The Bathroom book?
Three years. Within that time frame, I actually wrote three books, designed two bracelets and an apron.
What inspired you to write another book to coincide with The Bathroom book?
It was a natural fit. I emphasize the importance of family, of togetherness in ‘The Bathroom Book.’ Each chapter commences with ‘My Story,’ a personal story from childhood with a focus on the bathroom and ties in nicely with the chapter content. At the end of each chapter, you are greeted with a subheading titled ‘Thoughts to Guide Your Thinking.’ Three bullet points, one question, and an icon follow. The information presented originates from ‘My Story.’ The icon is your cue to open A Timeless Keepsake and to begin to write.
What is A Timeless Keepsake?
In its simplest form, it’s a journal though not your typical journal. A Timeless Keepsake is designed with you in mind. It’s the one place to Release, Renew, Revitalize memories from days gone by, the present, and what is yet to come.
I show you how to infuse this book with positive vibration and beautiful earth energy to enhance the mind, body, and spiritual connection of this journaling experience. For within your hands is the making of a treasure—A Timeless Keepsake fashioned with a personalized imprint of life-giving attributes. What you choose is a reflection of your unique personal style.
Do you have a writing schedule?
Each day brings forth a new. It’s a mood thing. Some days the information flows forth with clarity and zest. Other days, it’s a challenge to sit and write. These are the days to create, design, and go for a walk.
My daily itinerary in its simplest form:
- Email and social media updates
- Live correspondence
- Write, create, design
- Mini walk outside with “The Girls”
- Write, create, design
- Organize + tidy
- Physical activity
- Write, create, design . . . .
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Outdoor activities such as power walking, ride a bicycle, walk on the beach, read a book, take a barre class, plan a gathering, or entertain myself with a landscape or hardscape design, redesign, or trim the 80 dwarf boxwoods to maintain topiary delight. On the flip side, while indoors I’ll redesign a room, flip a room, or tidy up to maintain organization. Sing a little, dance a little.
Who is ChaCha?
ChaCha is an extension of me. She manifested through thought, my thought. She is the modern-day representation of a fairy—good-natured, vibrant, and whimsical. Her purpose is to guide you along a personal transformational journey to manifest a fabulous Eco-Conscious, Healthy-Living Lifestyle.
Symbolically, she senses your wish for change and travels effortlessly to your home. She enters in preparation to lift spirits and encourage the change you seek—one step at a time, one room at a time.
